Forum: etree Subject: downloading lots of files easily

With ftp read access being turned off, some patrons asked how to efficiently download, say, all the flac's for a show.

I just installed downthemall as a free firefox extension and it works great (thank you ralf for pointing this out).

then in the fast filtering option put in *.flac and it downloads in parallel (and fast!)

hope this helps.

I already responded with a list of complaints about the limitations of DTA here. Executive summary, it's not an adequate replacement for FTP for many purposes. In particular, my media server doesn't have a graphical user interface, which makes it very difficult to run firefox on it!

I still haven't heard any excuse for dropping FTP, especially since it's still being used for uploads (which is actually the tricky part of running an FTP server).
